What’s inside YOUR case?

Calling all pool bloggers! On September 15, I'll be hosting this month's edition of PoolSynergy and we're welcoming interested pool bloggers to participate! This month's theme is: "GEAR: What's in your case and why?"

  • I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish a very special Birthday greeting to the one and only, Michael McCafferty, known to most as "Fast Mikie." Without him, I might not even be blogging today. He's my dear friend, confidant, and mentor in so many ways. HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A GREAT DAY, FM!!! • 2004 U.S. Open Champion, Gabe Owen, is currently in town hangin' out and I drew him in my second match on the winners' side. I played a great first match and was very excited to see I was playing him next. Gabe and I know each other from interviews and working but this would be our first time meeting up on the green. Game 1 - He missed the 8 ball and left me the 8 and 9. Game 2 - He missed the 7 ball (I think) and left me an easy out. Game 3 - He broke and scratched and I ran out (pretty textbook, which I was so happy about) to go up 3-0. Unfortunately, that would be the last game I would win. In Game 4, I made a really bad, aggressive decide to play a two-way bank on the 6 in the side that totally sold out that rack. I was not committed at all. Safety? Bank. Safety? Bank. And of course, got neither. In Game 5, I blasted them wide open, made three balls and had a text book runout. While going two rails on the 1 ball to get on the 2, I caught a slow rail which left me a bank. I made the bank but then I was forced to play a safety. I ended up leaving Gabe a bank and he of course he ran out from there. The rest was pretty much history but I felt proud to have played so well in front of my fans and supporters. Gabe is a sweetheart and I'm glad he's gonna be in town for a while. I hope he finds a reason to move here. That would be cool. Anyway, John Schmidt and Earl Strickland will also be in town this weekend for some exhibitions so that means we'll have THREE U.S. Open Champs under one roof! Woohoo!!! Post a comment
  • Thanks to the stranger who sent me a message about my links circling back to the links page. I have since updated the plugin and it appear to be working again. Please keep me posted of any other goofy errors. I really appreciate the support! Post a comment
  • Tonight was the final week of 14.1 league. Next Monday starts the end of league tournament. Last session,  I finished third. I'm gunning for a couple places higher this time. ;) Tonight I played a new player (new to me). Kai from Seattle. He moved out here a couple years ago and I'd seen him around but we'd never played before. He shoots very well. I won. In our match, I ran a 30. Prior to tonight, my high run in the league was a 27 and my BPI was 2.80. I currently hold the high run of the session! I finished tonight's match in 22 innings so that should bring my BPI up too. Woohoo! Current stats I'll wait to see what my handicap ends up at next week. Post a comment
  • Today, I found out that professional billiards is not the only women's sport that loses players due to family/pregnancy. Even in ladies' pro golf, you never know when the best player might quit at the top of her game to start a family. Men have it so much easier. They can just keep playing when they get married or even when their wife gets knocked up. Post a comment
