According to Wikipedia, Bleacher Report is “a website that provides news and fans’ opinions of sporting events.”
In this past week, b/r has both pissed me off and made me laugh with their silly satire.
First, I was informed that Billiards is #6 in the “10 “Stupidest” Sports on ESPN”, just in between hot dog eating and bowling. Now, spelling bee I can kinda see but come on! People love to watch pool on TV!
And what about this? “Some may remember Jeanette Lee, the “Black Widow” who dressed in all black and always dominated the circuit.” Give me a break! Her winningest year (on the WPBA, I must specify) was in 2004. If any players are mentioned for dominating the tour it’s Allison and Karen. If there’s one thing the self-marketing mogul has dominated, it’s the endorsements and exposure departments. Good on her but get your facts straight, b/r!
Today, J-Bar, posted another link from our friends at b/r. This one was VERY witty and well done! “Nicknames Abound in WPBA” by Stan Silliman is a tongue in cheek outsider perspective of all unique monikers we’ve acquired over the years. Silliman points out how some are more appropriate than others. The article is very clever and well written. I hope Stan enjoyed his visit to the US Open.
