My Training

Puttin’ in my time…

Unlike the song, time was not on my side last night. I put in a solid three hours. That was all I could spare after an unexpected nap and some last minute errands. To be quite honest, I could’ve spent my time catching up on some things and was feeling quite tired, but I made a commitment so I forced myself to play, even though all the signs were against me.

timeI got such a late start that it would be nearly 10 o’clock by the time I was finished with everything. I debated on whether to head or Rack ‘Em or Table Steaks South (since they’re open 24 hours). Since I was planning to get up early for Body Pump and didn’t want to stay past 1a.m., I just decided to go to Rack ‘Em. As I pull up, Mick (the bartender) was outside smoking and told me there were no tables available due to a private party. This is VERY uncommon. I was so tempted to just drag my lazy butt home for an early night but noooooo, I blogged that I would practice at least two hours a day and I know some of you will be asking me about it, so I got in the car and headed to South. ;)

It was a special treat. I ended up winning a set of 8-ball against Chris Byrne, and splitting two hill-hill sets of 9-ball with an old friend Dave K. whom I hadn’t seen or played with in years. We had both improved from our old school practice sessions and it was a very nice treat.

Typical day as of late:

8:00a.m. to 9:00a.m. – Roll out of bed, have a small breakfast
9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. – Body Pump (or some other workout)
10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. – Work, Lunch, Writing, Errands, Hang out with Vegas
1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. – Teaching (if I have any lessons scheduled)
4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. – Practice or Work
7:00p.m. to 12:00a.m. – Tournament or Practice
1:00a.m. – zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
