We are less than a week away from the Shooting Star Classic 8-Ball Tournament!

Mike and I have been working diligently since May to spread the good word about this event. This is our first major endeavor together and it has been a fun and, at times, challenging experience for both of us.

The casino is adding $5,000 and every penny of that, and possibly more, is going back to the players. Our whole objective for putting on the tournament in the first place was to put our money where our mouths are! How many times do you attend an event and say, “If this were my event, I would…” or “I wish they would’ve done – - – instead…”??? Well, instead of complain about it, we decided to take the initiative and put on a pool tournament that is going to be worth it for everyone involved!

Besides, we’re pool players. We know what pool players want.

Here are just a few of the things we’re doing to make this a special event:

1. At least $5,000 Added Guaranteed!
2. A $10 Greens Fee gets you all the pool you can play all weekend.
3. We’re supporting local businesses in the Northern MN area.
4. 5 Divisions: Scotch Doubles, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Masters, & Women’s Masters
5. The winner of each singles division receives a custom engraved Delta-13 rack, along with their prize money, and other misc. surprises!
6. There will be additional raffles, prizes, giveaways continuing throughout the weekend.
7. There will be a finals pit with spectator seating.
8. We will be streaming live from the event. (with some special surprises)
9. Hefty Payouts – Did I mention that every penny of the entry fees (minus the $10 GF) and added prize money is going back into the purse?
10. Affordable hotel rooms at a friendly, cozy casino.

So, if you haven’t sent in your entries yet, it’s not too late (but it sure is getting close). You can still register online.

Or, if you can’t make it, please help us spread the word to make this inaugural event a successful one. We can complain about tournament directors profiting from the players but if we don’t support the ones that are trying to better the situation, then we’re not helping either.

I’ll be participating in the Women’s Masters event since the poor division needs the head count. I don’t have any expectations as I will be very busy/distracted and I have hardly played at all this summer. I will just enjoy my time at the table and be the best hostess I can be.
