Overall, I believe this year’s nationals were as well as can be expected. No one was seriously injured and the cops only had a to come a couple of times. With over 10,000 pool players under the same roof, that’s not a bad percentage.
Some Riviera cutbacks made for an interesting trip:
- As of December, there’s no more Valet at the back parking lot. No more pulling up minutes before your match and dropping your keys off with the valet. You either have to valet in the front lot or circle around for a spot like the rest of us.
No more in-room coffee pots. Don’t worry, they’re still available. You just have to RENT them now. Yes, I said “RENT.” Can you say, “Cut backs?”- And, not that I really frequent the food court anyway, but the one time I did, in a pinch, it looked pretty sad. My options were: Mexican, Quiznos, or, uh, what about Mexican??? I don’t mean the other places were closed for the night, they just weren’t even available. There were big curtains in front of all the other food places. Interesting…
Some things that really kicked butt this year:
- The BCA’s new online brackets. Search for anyone and see who all they played, the scores, how they finished, how their opponents finished, etc.
- The return of the World Pool Masters and Predator 10 Ball events.
- Our remodeled room with comfy bed, down pillows, and down comforter. mmmmmm….
- The Riviera smelled a little nicer with the absence of the Splash Bar.
- I did NOT eat at Kady’s ONE TIME.
I’ve had a nice four-day vaca in AZ before heading home for a couple days and then it’s back to the Riv again for some more pool action.
As promised, here are the 2009 BCAPL photos:
I’m also leaving you with this killer video courtesy of our friends at NYCGrind.com. Nice work, Jerry & Alison!
