Last night, I completed in my final weeks of league to qualify to play in the BCA nationals next month (and so I can play scotch with Mike). After leagues, I got in some cheap action. I ended up losing a couple set but felt like I played pretty decent overall, considering the Xtreme circumstances. I don’t believe I’ve ever played pool to these conditions before. I accepted the challenge.
You can review the list and let me know which of these you think is worst. Please keep in mind that this all took place within 20 feet of the league tables.
- Country Night – The drunken cowboys were spilling over from the stage/dance floor and would attempt to line dance with you on your way to/from the restroom.
- Loud DJ – Every so often, the DJ would shout something into the microphone. Isn’t that the point of having a microphone? So you don’t have to shout?
- Flashing Red Light – The Red Bull promotion girls had some sort of flashing red light at their booth.
- Strobe Light – This made the Red Bull light seem like a cigarette lighter from across the room. Yikes! I don’t think I’ve ever played pool to a strobe light in my eye balls before. Good thing no one in the room was epileptic. Seriously!
- Smoke Machine – Yes, you read this correctly.
- The Mystery Red Triangle Cue Ball - What is this thing? Is it a red circle? Is it not? It sure doesn’t respond like a red circle. I guess it wouldn’t be that bad if it wasn’t 20 years old and all lumpy.
- My Excitable Uni-stance Opponent - At one point I had to ask him to stay in his seat while I was at the table. I’d love to get him on a big table. He was reckless but didn’t miss often. He played well against me last night.
My surroundings last night were not ideal and normally, I would shy away from playing with such inferior equipment and circumstances, but I welcomed the challenge last night and I hope I can be a stronger player for it.

i hate lumpy balls, and will not play with them!
