Shots

Two Great Shots

As promised, here are two excellent shots I learned from the great Dan Louie while I was in Seattle. [Note: The diagrams are close, but not perfect.]

#1 – High Inside Force Follow

209-dan-high-inside

This is one of those super cool shots that doesn’t look possible. It also requires definite practice before attempting to execute it in a match.

The diagram here is not 100% accurate. The tangent line on the 1 ball takes it straight into the corner pocket. When using high inside english with a force follow stroke, you can slightly curve the cue ball around the 8 ball and just contact the rail between the ball and the corner pocket.

If you clip the 8 ball, shoot it firmer. If you scratch in the corner pocket, try aiming higher. This makes playing position for the 2 ball fun and natural. The inside kills the speed and the high avoids the scratch and the traffic.

#2 – Double-Kiss 9 Ball Shot

209-dan-double-kiss

Dan discovered this shot on his own during a 9-ball match one time when he thought through the possibilities and experimented with the shot. The diagram is pretty close. You get the idea. Try it out. Extreme right english.

I hope Dan doesn’t mind me giving away all his great secrets.  ;)   He’s definitely one of the nicest, most generous guys in pool.

Enjoy!
