US Open Day 3 - More photos
And the beat goes on…
Accu-stats hosted a big Appreciation Dinner for us. Thanks, Accu-stats for the dinner and for the years of excellent match coverage!
Match of the night: 7p.m. match with Nick Varner and Rudolfo Luat
Nick came out ahead in that hill-hill battle
One of my new favorite players: Tommy Kennedy. He’s so cute! (in an Elvis Costello meets Rainman meets Ben Stiller sort of way) I just want to pinch his cheeks!!!
Tommy won the US Open in 1992. He too ended up winning a hill-hill match against this kid from Finland called Joonis (correction: Joonas) Ohtonen. Apparently, the lights from the TV table were really bothering him.
At hill-hill, Joonis broke and almost made the 9 ball, then he almost left himself a 1-9 combo until the 6 ball creeped in there at the last second. Wow!
After several interviews yesterday, I got to get out of there early since I was returning at 8:45a.m. to shoot Extreme Instruction videos this morning. I made my usual trip to see James at the Wawa for late night cuisine and couldn’t help but notice their extensive assortment of gum. I’ve never been a huge gum-chewer, but I have a serious weakness for fruity gums and almost always have some on me. I’m a bit of a fruity gum connoisseur.
As usual, here are the brackets and here’s the photo gallery. Enjoy!

Hi, the “kid” from Finland is called Joonas Ohtonen, not Joonis
