“MAX”imum fun in Cali

I had the honor and privilege of spending a couple days with my good friend, the super talented artist and pool player, Max Eberle. Max was the very first professional player I met about four years ago once I started competing more seriously and traveling to tournaments. We’ve remained great friends and it’s amazing how both our lives are in completely different places now.

The majority of the weekend was spent catching up and being mellow. I did, at one point, convince him to hit some balls with me on Sunday afternoon before we headed to his friend’s Vegan pool party.

We went to Hollywood Billiards and played some 10-ball for about an hour and a half on the tightest, rudest table I’ve ever played on. It really hurt my feelings. In fact, it made me want to quit pool. Meanwhile, I’m getting all the breaks and ball-in-hand like I’m playing the ghost and couldn’t win one single game. Man! I must’ve forgotten how well he plays!!!

Well, I guess he is the “Best in the West.” It’s just not everyday that you get a chance to practice with a champion of his caliber. He also spent some time helping me with my power draw and doing an entire interview with me about it. It’s a work in progress (the article and the draw).
