11 days later, we’re finally heading “home” now. I have so much to share, but I’ll leave you with these for now. I hope these are a little better:
How many people can say they get to sit around and sweat their favorite sport and be around the players they admire and get to interview and hang out with them?
More to come when I make my way back home.

Highlights from the 2011 U.S. Open
Sunday, November 20, 2011It was so nice to be back on the East coast again but it certainly was odd missing the first couple days of the event. This particular tournament holds a lot of sentimental value for us since it was where everything began last year.

“How many people can say they get to sit around and sweat their favorite sport and be around the players they admire and get to interview and hang out with them?”
Not many, that’s for sure. How happy are you that you get to do that? O would hope VERY happy! Okay, my turn – I got a good one for ya, chick. I was standing next to Pete Sampras at the WCT Scottsdale (Pro Tennis Tournament) in 1990, and we were debating who was gonna win the Andre Agassi / Jim Courier match. (I had already lost my pre-qualifier match, and was ‘sweating’ the matches left to be played.) Pete didn’t even flinch and said “Andre, he beat me in L.A” I, like a smart ass, said “Courier; I just warmed him up”. (Jim Courier did win the match, and the only reason I ever got to warm him up is because I happened to overstay my time on the practice court and it was his time to hit, but I digress…) Little did I know that Pete Sampras would go on to break every tennis record ever held, and that Jim Courier would someday be number one in the world himself. I, as fate would have it, would never make it as a pro, go on to spend six glorious years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and end up watching my favorite players from whatever station I could while deployed overseas. I had always wanted to represent my country and play Davis Cup for the U.S., and have that ‘United States Davis Cup Team’ jacket, but I found solace in wearing one that said ‘U.S. Marines’. My point? Be so happy, and grateful and PROUD that you are in the company you are in. You are among the elite playing a game that so few can play at your level – both of you. (BTW Samm, Great interview a while back with Stefano Pelinga.) You and Mike have earned where you’re at in this game. I’m so with you guys on this one. Celebrate it! Soak it in! Make this day – and every day – a Great One! You guys rock! – Kyril
