Last night was a scheduled Free Pool Clinic. I told Butch I would meet him an hour early since I’d missed him last week due to my delayed flight. I decided to show up an hour earlier than that to hit some more balls with my new shaft.
When I’d arrived at Table Steaks around 5pm, the parking lot was completely empty and as I walked up to the door I realized it was pitch dark inside. As I got closer, I noticed a sign on the door that read that they were closed due to an unexpected malfunction and that they’d be back up and running in no time.
Immediately, I made arrangements with Joe at Rack ‘Em to have the clinic over there. He very kindly accommodated and after leaving an addendum to the note on the door of where to find the clinic, away I went. I got there in time to play a few games with one of my students and practice just a little bit. The Diamonds at Rack’Em have much less forgiving pockets than the tables at Shakes but I felt just a little more confidence than my last practice session, which makes me believe that I’m starting to adapt to the new shaft.
It reminds me of when I taught Vegas how to wave. I didn’t think he was getting it that night, but as soon as we tried again the next night, he remembered right away. Sometimes a break in between helps to process the new information.
I’m actually looking forward to hitting some more balls tonight. Off to Rack ‘Em for Free Pool on Wednesdays! More to report later.
