Texas & Virginia Bound
I leave tomorrow for Houston, Texas for the ninth Hunter Stop of the year at Bogies. It’s a little bitter sweet for me since the Bogies stop was the last stop of last year and the first one I attended (around this time), and it will also be the final stop for me this year. It was this stop last year that I made my decision to play in all (or, as many as possible) of the Hunter stops for 2007. So far, I’ve only missed one stop and I will also be missing the tenth and final one next month as I’ll be at the Northern Lights Shootout in Rugby, North Dakota.
2007 began as a promising year. I decided to “go for it.” This was my first real shot at trying to qualify. With a new coach and a new game plan, one of the goals I set for myself is to finish in the top ten of the tour for 2007. I’m currently at 13th with, what will be, a total of two missing stops. As positive as I will stay, I don’t believe that it will be realistic for me to finish in the top ten…
In wrapping up this year, I reflect on all the wonderful memories I’ve shared with all the great new friends I’ve made. This tour has meant so much to me and I hope I can continue to participate in it. It’s been an amazing year and for me, for the first time ever, being a part of the Hunter tour has been the very first time in my very short, blooming pool career that I have felt completely accepted and embraced for how I play and what I believe in. I’ve made some friends for life regardless of next year. Just about every single person has been warm and welcoming. I really hope I can continue to play with them.
After the tournament is over, I’ll be flying out early Monday morning to Norfolk, Virginia to meet Mike at the US Open. We will be a part of the InsidePool crew as they’ll be broadcasting live coverage from the tournament. Mike will also be competing in the tournament. That’ll be exciting too. I’ve never been to the US Open before. I can’t wait!!!
Well I’d better get some sleep. I have an appointment with my chiropractor in the morning before my 1 o’clock flight and I’ve finally just finished packing.
Catch ya on the flip side!
